Stuff About Me You Don’t Need to Know But I Wrote Down Anyway…

I am a university grad who now works in the higher education industry. I have had the opportunity to experience both privately and publicly funded educational institutes, and I use this information that I’ve gathered to incorporate into my writing. Since I love education and love my job, I thought I’d combine the two and created this blog. I hope the topics I write about make you think, and I hope you feel free to comment on anything and everything I have to say, whether you agree with me or not!

As a side note, some things you should know about me are:

1) I usually write the way that I speak, but sometimes I try to fancy it up a bit and try to sound at least somewhat professional…it usually doesn’t work.

2) I can be pretty sarcastic at times, so please don’t be offended by anything that I say as I don’t intend to hurt anyone (especially the fat mouse that I mentioned in this post).

3) I’m secretly a ninja cleverly disguised as a clumsy blonde who laughs too much…

  1. You really dont know how lucky you are for loving the job you are carrying out! ( well, Im sure you know it πŸ™‚
Not all people that is currently working love his job.

Furthermore, it is a nice job, so is perfect. You are doing a job that you love. What else could you ask for? πŸ˜€

    nice “abou me” page.

  2. Yeah !! I Think like you , it really good when we love the things that we do.

  3. Love to read your post, you can really gain from it, especially a college student like me.

  4. I’v just finished my foundation year and soon will step into the college life, I hope I can learn more from your blog~

    • I hope my blog will be able to help you too, Sunny!

Thanks for stopping by, and if you have any questions or wish me to research a topic and write on it, feel free to do so! I’d be more than happy to help! πŸ™‚

  5. Thanks for popping into my blog and saying hello…I’ve enjoyed going through yours as well! I thinks it’s so incredibly important to have people in the field of education who CARE about and LOVE what they’re doing…good for you for being one of them!!!

    • Well, a big thank you right back to you for popping into mine! πŸ™‚

I honestly love my job and it’s great that others can see that sincerity in my blog. Thanks so much for the kind words and encouragement!

  6. 13 James

Hi, I just stumbled across your blog via Dakota’s journal. It’s great to read the point of view of someone working in the education industry – your entries are very informative and straight to the point! I especially love the one titled “5 things you need to know before moving to Canada”… one of my housemates hails from Niagara-on-the-Lake, and she’s told me stories of summer visitors asking her where all the snow is!

    • Hey James! Thanks so much for stopping by! (I’m sure I should thank Dakota too…lol). I really appreciate you taking the time to read some of my posts. I thought it would be great to start a blog from the viewpoint of someone working in higher education; it’s nice to know that people are getting something from it! πŸ™‚

I thought I’d write a fairly practical blog about being a college student in Canada, whether you’re a local or an international student, because there is so much that students just don’t realise. I especially love that most non-locals always wonder where the snow is in July… πŸ˜‰

Thanks again for reading, and I’ll be sure to stop by your blog as well!

  7. So, were you upset that the Bruins beat the Canucks of Canada? I am trying to think if there is anything Canada is better than us at. Hmm….. πŸ˜€

Still thinking…this may take a while.

  8. you write good stuff

  9. 19 sidhu89

u really r doing gud work keep it up its really nice providing awareness with thoughts
i m subscribed but wat is pcc advantage anyway πŸ˜‰

    • Thanks very much for your kind words and for subscribing! It’s always great to be able to share any information with new people, so I’m glad that you somehow stumbled onto my blog! πŸ™‚

  10. You should dig back a little bit in my posts…I wrote one called “The Whole Money Thing”….you might like it…talk about some of the professions that I think are underpaid! Great spot you have here! Glad I subscribed!…Jason

    • Hey Jason! Thanks so much for stopping in and commenting…also, for your very kind words. πŸ™‚

I’m heading on over to your blog right now to check out that post!

  11. I just added you to my blog roll!

  12. Hey mystery girl… are you a real person or just a Gravatar?

I stumbled on your blog posts through the WordPress home page.

I’m not a student, but I find you writings very entertaining. You are sincere, warm, and quite funny.

You seem to have a special creative gift, and I find myself wishing I knew more about you? OK, I know this may seem a little unusual, but I had to ask. I am a real person myself… through my blog, I get a bazillion emails and “introductions” from printers around the world seeking help. So I’m not lonely (:-), or looking for another ‘thing to do.’ It is so rare to discover real, genuine creativity that I had to attempt making a connection.

I would be honored to know a little more about you…

    -mike

    • Haha…yes, I’m a real person, Mike. First of all, thank you so much for your very kind words…I am truly humbled anytime anyone reads through an article or two, and especially when they comment, so thank you so very much. My aim in this blog is to inform students about any educational issues that they may face in college while trying to be at least somewhat entertaining. Many times, unless an article is entertaining, a student won’t read through the entire post, so when I write with my “own voice”, so to speak, the students will read the post and will (hopefully) feel a little more educated on the issue.

Once again, thank you for dropping by and for your kind comments!

  13. good lawd…woman…I’ve read a lot of your stuff…more importantly, I enjoy it…but I gotta tell you… you’re beautiful…it’s the one reason I wanted to write you… this isn’t a “hit-on-you” moment…it’s just letting you know that someone half a world away thinks you’re amazing both in thought and in beauty…

    T.

    • Oh wow…now that has to be the nicest comment I think I’ve ever had on my blog! Thank you very much! I think that’s what’s so great about having a blog…writing anything and everything about what interests you and somehow gaining readers from half a world away. Love it. Thank you so much for your very kind words too. πŸ™‚

Once again, thanks for reading my stuff….after all, that is kind of the point of blogging, right? πŸ˜‰

  14. This page is too adorable for words! A ninja, huh? Yes, I think we can be bffs now. And guess what! I’m a college prof! So we can splash in puddles as we discuss the substantial ups and downs of higher education. Ha!

    • Awesome. I am SO up for acting like a child even though I am supposed to act like a professional…in fact, perhaps we can mix the two? Maybe we can splash in puddles while wearing ties and power-suits…and then lecture students about the science behind our marketing style, eh?

And, yes, I’m a ninja. I don’t mean to brag, but I’m just stealthy like that…don’t hate. πŸ˜‰

Thanks so dropping by, and for your kind words, Den!

  15. That Versatile Blogger award thing got me thinking about how I would ever come up with 7 things to say about myself. If it ever happened, “My Sim is a Level 5 Ninja” would probably be #4 now! …p.s. I’m also a Level 5 Kisser!

    • Those are AWESOME things to say about yourself, Anne! Yeah, I don’t really know what else I could say about myself here…other than my ninja-ness is rather time-consuming, so I only have time to drink hot chocolate and watch cartoons – 2 of my favourite things to do . πŸ™‚

      • πŸ™‚ Mmm… hot chocolate! β™₯ I have to say, the reason I first clicked on your page was because I’m really impressed with your ninja-ness!

  16. Just found your blog and I LOVE it! Can’t wait to keep reading more. Great job.

    • I want to be excited but I feel like your expectations of me are too high now…my blog is sort of lame and I fear that you’ll get more and more disappointed with me as you read on. πŸ˜‰

Seriously, though, thank you so much…it’s very kind of you to say that. Greatly appreciated, 1 Story a Week! πŸ™‚

  17. Hi, i like your blog very much.. i assume that you are very much into adventures and stuff.. πŸ™‚
you will also like my post http://www.techenlife.com/?p=802 ( visit to killer mountain.. the nanga parbat )

    looking for feedback πŸ™‚

  18. Just out of interest where does the name ‘PCC Advantage’ come from?

    Public College… summink…?

  19. 40 sportsattitudes

Is it PC to leave feedback when someone updates their picture? Do they even WANT feedback? If you favor it over the prior picture too much, does that make it sound like the incumbent was inferior in any way when it certainly was not? Hmmm. Whatever. On the new pic…on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being awesome…it’s at least an 11. I’ve been toying with updating mine. Shake things up a bit!

  20. This is a bit weird… all your posts are oddly similar in themes to my posts… thanks for finding me, and great to read your blog! Where in this wide old world are you? I am Oxford through and through. Best wishes, Tim

    • Well, I guess that’s why I found your blog interesting! lol! Glad to see you on here.

I’m all the way over in Canada…Toronto, to be exact. πŸ™‚

      • wow… thanks PCC! Thats really kind of you. Toronto is really lovely, but bet its cold over there! I had an ex in Don Mills once… what do you do for a living?
        T

      • lol! Yes, it can get cold here, but fortunately, our igloos keep us warm all year round… πŸ˜‰ I work at a private college and, for some reason, they still want me around. πŸ˜‰

  21. Your musings make me guffaw with far too much force. For the sake of my well-being, please tone it down a notch! πŸ™‚

  22. I found this blog whilst surfing the blogosphere and rather glad I did! I love it and signed up immediately! I look forward to more from you (but I don’t believe the ninja bit :P)

    • Well, I’m glad you found this blog too! πŸ˜€ I appreciate your very kind words, Ken.

Also, never doubt a ninja…even the clumsy ones. πŸ˜‰

  23. Thanks for visiting our blog, and I really like what I’ve read so far on your blog. My wife and I both business school profs with more than four decades of experience between us, so I know your blog is serving a very valuable service.

Plus, anyone who likes bacon has to be terrific…

  24. Laughing too much is a good thing. πŸ˜€

Thank you for dropping by my blog.

    • That’s true, but it can be bad if you laugh so much that you stop breathing. That happens to me on a near-daily basis. πŸ˜‰

      Thanks for stopping by, Sajib!

  25. I can’t believe it! Why hasn’t anyone mentioned the whole Canadian / back bacon legend / misnomer? Granted, peameal / cornmeal bacon is what we should be focusing on anyway. Presumably, the katana would make rather short work of any variety of cured / salted meat.

I made an icon for you based off your icon which is based on BTH’s logo. Where should I send it? You can probably edit that last part out – it’s pretty ridiculous. Maybe this part about a ninja in a dress going shopping for an RV with his mom should be scrapped as well.

    • I don’t know, Mediaudio. I don’t know. I mean, clearly, I’ve stated that bacon is a huge part of my life and yet very few even mention it. It’s sad, really.

You made an icon?? I’m so curious to see it! Just send it to the email address that shows up when I comment on your blog. πŸ˜€

Also, I will not be editing anything. I like ridiculousness. It’s what makes the world go ’round. Oh, wait a minute…

  26. I love the fact that you felt compelled to offer a disclaimer about offending people’s sensibilities in your “About Me”. Any blogger that acknowledges there is a good chance they will end up pissing someone off has to be worth following.

  27. I’ve nominated your blog for a Versatile Blogger Award, which means that I find it as amusing as hell. Thanks for keeping me entertained!

Click back onto The Dissemination of Thought to find out what the award is all about.

    • That’s awesome! Thanks very much, DisseminatedThought! I’ll have to check into that because I’m not sure I know what that is…hopefully something good where you pretend to like my posts all in an effort to exploit my geekiness. ‘Cause that’d be awesome.

      Thanks again! πŸ˜‰

  28. Hey, Congrats!!
I have nominated you for the Liebster Blog Award! : )
It actually says ‘I Totally Love and Enjoy your Blog!’ : )

  29. 61 Larry

What can I say that everyone else hasn’t already stated. After reading many posts and replies I almost wish I was a native Canadian ;).

I know it’s difficult to keep up blogging and a career. Although my blog doesn’t hold a torch to yours when it comes to entertaining, I still find it difficult to keep up with it.

I look forward to your future posts and wish you much success.

    • Wow! Thank you very much for your kind words, Larry!

You’re right…it is difficult to keep up with a career and blogging as life can get so busy, but it is so worth the time and effort. πŸ™‚

Thanks again, and I hope you come back to visit often! πŸ™‚

    • I’m glad that the misery I feel whilst having to live with myself amuses you. πŸ˜‰

Seriously, though, thank you SO much for your kind words! I do believe you’ve just made my day, sir! Also, you’re probably going to be disappointed with the rest of my posts…they’re all lame. Just a warning.

Thanks again, Air Cooled! Much appreciated! πŸ™‚

  31. I have nominated you for the Sunshine Award because you bring a smile to my face and in one way or another, you encouraged me in my beginning. In the β€˜Wrong Placement ?’ category, I just landed on “Elevator Etiquette 101…” and noticed that the link arrow to “10 Reasons Why This Item is a Man’s Worst Nightmare” was pointing at your picture. Pretty blonds in general, or a subtle warning about your wonderful smile? πŸ™‚

    • Hahaha!! That’s so funny it looks like that! That post actually pertains to a shopping cart that follows you everywhere you go in the grocery store, but, yeah, I should probably have it pointing at myself as well.

Every man’s worst nightmare. Right here. *points to self* πŸ˜‰

Thanks so much for your kind words, MyNextDate…very much appreciated! πŸ˜€

  33. 69 JOVIALS

Happy to read your blog. I loved it. YOU are blessed due to loving your job. I too love teaching.

  34. Pretty lady πŸ™‚

  35. Love your “about”. a blonde ninja, eh?

  36. Thank you for checking out my blog. pinky πŸ™‚

  37. ai’n it wierd when you wonder if someone you’ve never met . . . has died?!?

    • Hahaha! Yes, that is weird. But I appreciate the concern. Alas, I’m alive and well…just been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to even log in to WP, let alone write a post! Sigh…I know, I know…that’s no excuse. I’ll have to think of something and post again soon!
